“And this Our Life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything. I would not change it.” William Shakespeare (As You Like It)
Our Life was a project to celebrate the good that people do in their community, whether they were a charity or a community group founder, a volunteer or a person who regularly and simply showed kindness to their neighbour. Its aim was to highlight the good that is in the community and that surrounds us every day in Gloucester. The intention was that for one year one person a month would be chosen by the panel to be featured and shown in different venues across the city.
Russell Haines painted their portraits, whilst Christine was chosen to write a brief history of their lives and how they came to be nominated.
The project ended earlier than anticipated with only three people selected. Their portraits appear below, along with the story of their lives written by Christine.
